Salem Pond

Salem Pond is an 11-acre spring-fed body of water at the south end of Utah Valley. The pond is located in Salem, Utah at 200 West 300 South. Although most refer to the area as Salem Pond, the park itself is known as Knoll Park. The pond was originally created by damming the spring in 1851. Salem city was actually built around the pond by early settlers, who created a fort along this body of water.

Salem Pond offers a lot of fun activities for individuals and families to experience. The pond is deep and is great for kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding. The pond is encircled by a paved path which is great for walking your dog, rollerblading, skateboarding and biking. However, no motorized vehicles or horses are allowed on the path.

Salem Pond falls under the community pond fishing regulations of Utah. The daily limit is 2 fish. You are likely to catch rainbow trout, channel catfish, largemouth bass and bluegill. While not mandatory, anglers are encouraged to release all largemouth bass. Salem Pond has a fishing pier and lots of benches and tables as well as restrooms and parking with Handicap access. Salem Pond During our visit, a local resident was very helpful in showing us his favorite spot to fish, right by the boat launch. There is a channel that flows through the pond, which is the perfect spot to catch a variety fish.

The pond not only offers wonderful water activities, but is attached to Knoll Park. The park has a playground, and picnic tables great for barbeques. Salem Pond is a perfect place to take pictures, feed the ducks and geese, walk across the bridge in the center of the pond and explore with your family.

Check out Salem Cities webpage for various events held at the pond from May through August. Around November the entire pond is lit up with Christmas lights. The pond and the park are a wonderful place to visit year-round offering a ton of things to experience and see!
