Alpine Pond Trail Cedar Breaks

Hiking in the Cedar Breaks National Monument is one way to enjoy the uniqueness of this park. Most of the hikes in the monument provide views of the 3-mile wide amphitheater. The Alpine Pond Trail is a 2.2-mile loop that makes its way through meadows, aspens, pines, and connects with two different parking areas.

You can begin this hike at the Chesman Ridge Overlook or the winter warming yurt parking area. Once you begin this hike you will have the option to hike the lower loop or the upper loop. The upper loop meanders through a high mountain meadow and the lower loop through a forested landscape with large rocky outcrops. Once you reach the small pond you can loop around and head back to the trail head.

Hiking Safety:

Although this hike is what we considered an easy hike the elevation makes it more difficult. The Alpine Pond Trail sits at an elevation of approximately 10,521 feet. Everything you do at this elevation will be more strenuous. Just take your time and enjoy the views, scenery, and the whole family should be able to hike this trail. Alpine Pond Trail Cedar Breaks As always, remember to carry plenty of water and have the proper foot wear to enjoy exploring the Cedar Breaks National Monument.
