Which brand catches more fish? Recently there has been talk around the office about these two brands of fishing lures. The fishermen who use the Blue Fox Vibrax; claim this lure will catch more fish than any other spinner. I’ve been using Panther Martin spinners since I was a kid and I know they will catch fish. Over the many years of my life, I have caught numerous fish in small lakes, creeks, and streams using this lure. As the discussion and fish stories continued, it was time for a little friendly competition. But first we had to choose a fishing location.
The location of choice for our fun, friendly competition between the two fishing lures is the Little Cottonwood Canyon Creek. This crystal-clear creek is home to Rainbow Trout, and Brook Trout.
The next step in this little competition is choosing one of the top lures from each company. Each lure was similar in size, color, and proven to catch trout. The choice of lure for the Blue Fox is the Classic Vibrax silver on silver 1/8oz spinner. The Panther Martin lure of choice is the classic regular silver blade 1/8oz spinner.
With one pole rigged with the Panther Martin and the other with the Vibrax, it was time to get started. As we approached the first fishing hole, Ford stepped up with the pole rigged with the Panther Martin. With the classic flip cast into the first hole, the first fish of the day was caught. As quickly as this first fish hit, it seemed the Panther Martin would easily take this competition. I then flipped the Classic Vibrax into the next hole and, just as fast, fish on. The score is 1 to 1.
As we continued to fish the Little Cottonwood Creek, both spinners caught fish after fish and the score continued to be neck and neck throughout the day. Watch this video.
After a day of walking the creek and fishing hole after hole, the end results for both lures were 4 fish on the Panther Martin, and 4 fish on the Classic Vibrax.
Absolutely not. Each lure performed the same during this little competition. Will one lure outperform the other in the future? Probably. This is why you should have a good selection of lures and spinners in your fishing arsenal. You never know when the Panther Martin will be the lure of the day or the Blue Fox Vibrax. Having a good selection of fishing gear will just increase your chances of catching more fish on your next fishing outing.
