The Sound Of Silence Hiking Trail is the second point of interest on the Tilted Rocks Auto Tour. This trail is a moderated to difficult 3-mile route that will take you through arid landscapes, towering stone walls, and down dark red paths. The beginning of this hike takes you through a flat sage brush valley and makes its way into a tree and brush covered wash with views of towering stone walls. Do remember you are hiking in a wash so watch the skies and listen for sounds of possible water heading your way. As you continue down the wash the trees and brush offer relief from the hot summer sun.
After hiking through the wash you will come to the section of trail called the labyrinth. The labyrinth is a maze of bright red hills with trails going in every direction. So to be sure you don't take the wrong route keep this tip in mind - Always turn right!.
After making your way through the labyrinth the trail continues across a rolling hill valley and then you will reach the most difficult part of the trail. At this section you will experience a steep little hill climb and on the other side a decent down slick rock. You will then reach a point that you must climb down a steep wash. After this wash the trail levels out and reconnects to the original trail that will lead you back to the parking area.
When hiking this trail be sure to bring plenty of water, a hat, and sun screen.
