Prior to 2016 Tibble Fork Reservoir was a popular location mostly for fishing and canoeing. Construction on the Tibble Fork dam changed several features of the lake, including increasing the water's surface area from 9.6 to 21.6 acres. Also added was a large dock, swim beach with sand, and a larger parking area.
Today, Tibble Fork is no longer just a fishing location, but a place to play, enjoy the sun, and swim if you don’t mind the cold water. On our visit in the middle of the week the parking lot was full and many families were enjoying the beach, swimming, canoeing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. We attempted to fish on the east side with no luck on this trip.
If you plan on visiting and enjoying Tibble Fork arrive early to claim your spot, especially on the weekends. If you plan on fishing your best bet is along the dam or the east side which will get you away from the swim beach.
